I had a programmable thermostat installed last spring and I can definitely say it has been worth it. It’s so nice to be able to come home to a cool house and know the air conditioning hasn’t been running all day. I know a lot of people just leave their AC on so the house is always comfortable, but that uses up a lot of energy. Thanks so much for writing, I would recommend this to anyone interested in saving money.

I’d love to see the power bill savings from using the screens. Since their purpose is to deflect things, would that mean that during the winter it would deflect cold air? If I could make the window screens work for my power bill all year long, that would be a magnificent investment.

I know I can keep my house a few degrees warmer and have the ceiling fan run. Doing this makes it feel cooler than it actually is.
