After several hours of work designing the website, planning, and filming, my first Office For Newbies video is now up!
If you get a chance, you check it out: How to Create a Table of Contents in Word 2013
Office for Newbies Video – Site Design
I tried to come up with a website design that was very simple and conformed well to tablets and mobile. I also added a little “computer flair” with the power button icon in the middle of the page.
What do you think of the website design?
Office for Newbies Video – Building a Brand
It took many months to build any type of following for MoneyAhoy, and I know it will be a a long road ahead for OfficeForNewbies.com to become successful. I plan to stick with it, as I think there is a very large demand for Microsoft Office training. The competition is fierce, but I think I can do just as good of a job as anything else out there. We will see 🙂
Office for Newbies Video – Table of Contents
This first video is something I wish I had learned years ago as it makes my job much easier. I actually learned how to do this when I was writing my Stock Market Investing for Newbies book. Here’s the actual first video if you don’t want to click over to the OfficeForNewbies.com site:
Office for Newbies Video – Final Thoughts
You may be wondering how I’m planning to exactly monetize OfficeForNewbies.com to make all this hard work payoff. Well, all the videos will be free through YouTube and the step-by-step guides will also be completely free. I am planning the following routes for monetization:
- YouTube ads on videos
- Adsense ads on the post pages
- Potential for “newbie” guides for Excel, Word, and PowerPoint that I can sell as Ebooks
Of course, to get any decent type of return for my investment of time, I will need to get quite a bit of traffic. I am a firm believer in “if you built it, they will come.” As long as I’m producing quality videos, I think the payoff will eventually materialize. We’ll see what the future holds.

Very cool video. I played around with videos when creating an e-course for my other blog. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it as well. I am definitely going to look into creating more videos in the upcoming months.

Jon,
Much like blogging, if you are going to get a return on your investment of time, you have to get pretty devoted to creating many videos and marketing the heck out of them. We’ll see how far I can take this brand 🙂 Thanks for the words of encouragement.

This looks like a great idea! SO many people don’t know how to use Office, and many people hate it. It’s probably my favorite suite of software I use on a daily basis.

We’ll see how it goes. So far, I have not had much time to devote to it. I’m hoping that can change once we move into our new (smaller) house 🙂
