MoneyAhoy.com is a blog all about money: saving it, making it, and investing it!
Wait a minute Derek, there are hundreds or maybe even thousands of money/finance websites and blogs out there. Why are you wasting everyone’s time by making another one?
I’m writing this blog for several reasons:
- I am more interested in discussing and learning about money topics than any other person I have ever met. I could literally talk about it all day every day and not get bored.
- So many blogs that I can find only focus on two out of the three important areas of money (saving, making, investing). I want MoneyAhoy.com to be an area where all three of these topics are actively discussed.
- Most investment advice from “experts” is biased, overly complicated, and not very good (in my humble opinion).
- There seems to be a real taboo in many countries with talking about money (how much you make, how much you save, and how much you’ve accumulated). I would like to do my best to break this so that others can learn!
- I want to help myself become a better money maker, money saver, and money investor. By working to provide you content about money and sharing my real life’s stories, I will be forcing myself (and my wife) to take better control of our own finances.
- I want to do more with my life to help others succeed and reach their dreams by sharing what I’ve learned (the good and the bad) about money. I have seen several friends get themselves into real money emergencies and feel stuck in life. If I can even help one person get one step closer to fulfilling their dreams by working on this blog, then I will consider it a success.
OK, ok, ok… that sounds great and noble and everything, but how is MoneyAhoy.com going to be different than those other money/finance websites or blogs I read?
What you will find here is going to be different that most websites/blogs you will visit because:
- I’m going to produce lots of videos on actual ways to save/make/invest money. These will be of the step-by-step variety so that it will be very easy for you to replicate for yourself.
- Most articles (where applicable) will breakdown saving/making/investing ideas on a $ per year and a $ per hour basis, so that you can jump right into implementing the ideas that will have the biggest impact for you. This way, you can make the biggest impact for yourself or your family in the shortest amount of time possible.
- We will look closely at case studies and analyze them from a saving/making/investing money perspective to look for improvements. It is through this analysis that we can draw parallels to our own unique circumstances.
- I will post monthly income, expense, and investment reports for my household so that you can get a real-life picture of how I am implementing the advice I’m giving you. Hopefully readers will spot ways I can improve as well. (NOTE*) I am still trying to convince my wife that this is a good idea to generate open and honest discussion amongst ourselves and we will not get robbed by some crazy person… so wish me luck!
Alright, this all sounds pretty good. I guess I’ll have you just give your site a try and form my own opinion. Do you have any last thoughts for us?
Just a few – I consider myself tremendously lucky to have been born in the USA to good parents, had a good upbringing, and to hold down a well-paying job. That being said, I really want to be as open and honest as I can with you about money. As it relates to money, I plan to share with you the things that I have done right and things that I have done wrong so far in my life. There are those out there that make more than me, can save better than I can, and can certainly invest better than I ever could. Please understand that I am not an expert, but I will try my best to give the best advice, help, and ideas that I possibly can. Together, we can both learn much from one another and get one step closer to reaching our life’s dreams!
