I just recently “found” Steak ‘N Shake as a restaurant, and I think I’m in love! Why you ask? Well for starters, with Steak ‘N Shake coupons you can save yourself a bundle! Read on to find out the many other reasons why I think Steak ‘N Shake is so awesome and you should give it a try!
Kids Stuff
First of all, when is the last time you went to a kid-friendly restaurant and got all of the following?
- Kids hat
- Fold-able kids toy paper car
- Place-mat with crayons to color
I can probably count the different restaurants that give you all of these types of thing on one finger! Steak ‘N Shake gives you all of these things to keep your kids occupied while the food is being cooked. You just have to make sure you can keep them focused on ordering before they dig into the fun 🙂
Service
Steak ‘N Shake feels like a fast food restaurant, but you get waitresses and waiters. This is great from a service standpoint, but you have to pay for it in terms of tips! It is still convenient to get the speed of a fast food restaurant combined with the normal service of a sit down type restaurant.
Money Saving – Kids Eat Free
This is one of the best parts for us – for every $8 you spend, kids eat free! This means that if we (as a family of four) go to eat and get milkshakes, the kids both get their $3 – $4 meals for free. Hard to find a problem with that!
Money Savings – Steak ‘N Shake Coupons
The other really cool money saving aspect to, as I mentioned above, is the Steak ‘N Shake coupons! These Steak ‘N Shake coupons are all available online for printing. You just print them out and get $3 – $4 off your final bill depending on the coupon you select. Pro tip: if you print the Steak ‘N Shake coupons out in draft printing mode, make sure you can read the 5-digit code on the middle right of the coupon. We couldn’t read our and ended up waiting 10 minutes with the manager trying to figure out the proper number to get our $3 off 🙂
Steak ‘N Shake – The Downside?
Are there any downsides to Steak ‘N Shake? In my opinion, there are two things to that you need to be aware of:
- The steak burgers are kinda thin – they press them out on the grill. For me, this means that I need to order a double cheeseburger to feel like a I’m eating a normal burger. Nothing wrong with this, but it is something you will definitely need to know before your first trip. If you order a single burger, you may be disappointed!
- Maybe it is just me, but the menu feel unnecessarily complicated. There are dozens of different combinations with different pricing structures. Almost everything is right around $4 plus or minus a dollar. Why does it need to be this way? It always takes me way longer than it should to pick something because of the way the Steak ‘N Shake menu is laid out. Maybe that’s just the engineer in me 🙂
Final Thoughts – Value for Money
Why am I writing this article? Because if you have not tried Steak ‘N Shake, then you owe it to yourself to check it out! I am 33 years old, and only just now discovered it :-(. So many years wasted…. But seriously, I am just trying to spread the word about this awesome restaurant!
When things were all said and done the last time we ate there this is what we had:
- 2 kids meals w/ fries
- 1 double cheeseburger w/ fries
- 1 spicy chick sandwich w/ fries
- 2 kids milkshakes and 1 adult milkshake
After the two free kids meals and the Steak ‘N Shake coupons, our total came up to only $17.31 …. How’s that for value? Are their other great restaurants out there that give you a really good value for your money? If so, let me know about them here!

You made me hungry! Just looking at that burger tower at the top of your post.
We do not have the restaurant in our area, but wonder if they stay the quality they started. Like a few years ago a Burger King was a good deal, not anymore. At least to me.

Martin,
Yeah – I kinda wonder how they stay in business with such low prices compared to the value they offer.

Too bad there are no Steak and Shake places in MN. I have seen quips about them on TV, always wanted to go.

Yeah – I think it’s mostly a mid-west and southern thing 🙂
